OEDIPUS IN SEATTLE

September 2025

by Savannah Reich

Each night, two actors—who have never read the script or rehearsed—take the stage to perform the show for the first time!

In this mashup of the Greek tragedy Oedipus Rex and the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan rom-com Sleepless in Seattle, two unsuspecting actors play Oedipus/Meg Ryan, and Jocasta/Tom Hanks. Guided only by what’s in their hearts and the voice of destiny (okay, pre-recorded directions over a headset), Oedipus/Meg and Jocasta/Tom act out this hilarious yet poignant meditation on fate, free will, and the American sweethearts who defined rom-coms for a generation. A rotating cast of Theatre Horizon favorites takes the stage each night, making every performance a singular, unrepeatable event.

WISHING TO GROW UP BRIGHTLY

November 5-23, 2025

Book by Amanda Morton, Matthew Decker & Brenson Thomas
Music by Josh Totora
Lyrics by Josh Totora and Amanda Morton
Directed by Matthew Decker

A bold new musical inspired by the real-life story of Amanda Morton (The Color Purple, Broadway’s Gutenberg! The Musical!, KPOP), co-created with longtime collaborator and Theatre Horizon Co-Founder Matthew Decker (Into the Woods, Broadway’s upcoming La La Land), alongside Josh Totora and Brenson Thomas.

After the death of her father, Amanda Newton—a Korean-American adoptee—returns to her childhood home to help her mother pack up. There, she discovers a trove of his preserved memories, created by a tech company called reMemorex, and is pulled into a surreal and intimate journey through loss, identity, and the questions that have quietly shaped her life. As Amanda searches for connection in the fragments he left behind, she begins to confront a deeper longing: how do you create a sense of home when it was taken from you before you even knew what it was?

Wishing to Grow Up Brightly has been supported by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, join us for an evening of live music, comedy, spoken word, and dance that celebrates love in all its forms—romantic, familial, platonic, and communal.

Created, written, and performed by artists from Norristown and beyond, this original production is a tribute to love, local artistry, and the stories that connect us. XOXO is heartfelt, homegrown, and made with love — just like us.
